At Tuple Labs I was tasked with designing the look and feel of a personal financial management iOS app named Bacon. Southwest Business Corporation approached us with a challenge; to get at the root of the cause of debt, and deliver a groundbreaking, user-focused iOS app aimed at turning a daunting task into a visually pleasing, modern solution for at-home banking and bill pay. I was given complete creative rein to pick the color palette, design the logotype and app icon, illustrate and animate components, and design icons and screens within the app and all marketing materials following the app’s release. As Bacon is an app that would target a younger market and compete with apps like Mint, I wanted the brand to feel young, modern, and optimistic.

Below is a font system that could be utilized in instances throughout the app, website, and marketing materials. Each one of these custom characters follows the same set of visual rules set by the logotype.
One of the funnest parts of this project was illustrating the login screen (above) and the onboarding screens (below).
Bacon lets users link up to 10 of their financial institutions, and in one streamlined timeline view. Users can easily pay all of their bills, send money to anyone with an email or smartphone, set aside savings for goals of any size, all while seeing and knowing the status of any individual account at a glance.
Remaining tasks of the project were to leave SWBC with plenty of assets to use as they wish, which included several animations for use in the app and website (above), a robust presentation template, and stationary (below). The rest of these assets build off the original design cues from the logo: abstract, primary, geometric.
